- In About Our Club
Wrekin College Triathlon Club was formed in 2010 and is a thriving triathlon club within the heart of Shropshire. It is affiliated to the British Triathlon Federation and has a very active membership. The club is a friendly, vibrant and inclusive club consisting of both adult and junior members from the age of 8 years old. Our training sessions are based at the Wrekin College site for swimming, running, transition practice and some bike skills. We welcome everyone interested in multisport events such as aquathlon, duathlon and triathlon. We aim to support novices through to their first multisport event and beyond. We also aim to perform well at top level competitions.
We have a successful junior section (8-16 years), attracting children from a wide range of local primary and secondary schools where our open and enthusiastic approach has encouraged many youngsters into the sport and enabled them to achieve their targets. We have very strong links with other local sports clubs and utilise their expertise very productively, this includes local swim clubs and a junior cycle club, which furthers the opportunities we provide. We enter races locally and further a field and regularly participate within the West Midlands Series Triathlon and Aquathlon events.
All coaches within the Club are CRB checked and hold a recognised coaching qualification awarded by the British Triathlon Federation and/or the Amateur Swimming Association. All junior sessions are run in accordance with British Triathlon's guidance on the training and development of young athletes and geared towards improving skills, techniques and fitness levels.
Wrekin College Triathlon Club hosts a yearly aquathlon which is part of the West Midland Series. It also is an event included within the Shropshire County Championships. In 2011 the event was voted WM event of the year.
What equipment will you need?
